J.R. Manning is an award-winning freelance writer located in Wisconsin. For over 30 years, he contributed a monthy column, called Loose Lug Nuts, in his car club newsletter. His work appears regularly in The Restorer magazine (published by The Model A Ford Club of America) and he has also appeared in Wisconsin Trails, The Lincoln Highway Association Forum, The Model A News, Old Cars Weekly, The Milwaukee Journal and The Milwaukee Sentinel (now combined as The Sentinel-Journal) along with several other magazines and newpapers.
You can also find his work on the website of the Lincoln Highway Association and as an advocate for missing people, he also regularly contributes to a website called, Help Find The Missing. J.R. also contributes to Bridge Hunters, a project that is documenting historic bridges of the United States.
As you can see, he is a fan of old cars, old highways and old bridges. In 2003, he participated in a great adventure, the 95th Anniversary Cross Country Cruise. Along with 53 other people in 23 cars, he drove the Lincoln Highway from New York City to San Francisco - in “Sonja,” his 1929 Model A Ford Cabriolet. (The Lincoln Highway was America’s first paved coast-to-coast highway.)
